SONETO
130
William Shakespeare
Salin ni Jose F.
Lacaba
Mata ng irog ko’y hindi
maningning na langit,
Labi niya’y hindi
kasing pula ng rosas.
Kung ulap ay puti, ang
balat niya’y putik.
Buhok niya’y alambreng
tinik na napakatigas.
Samutsari ang kulay ng
mga bulaklak,
Subalit walang bulaklak
sa pisngi niya,
At ang mga pabango’y
may halimuyak
Na di maaamoy sa
kanyang hininga.
Kung kausap ang irog,
ako’y natutuwa,
Subalit mas masarap
makinig sa musika.
Ewan ko kung paano
maglakad ang diwata;
Ang irog ko, napakabigat
ng paa.
Gayunman, lintik! ang
irog ko’y walang katulad.
Lahat ng paghahambing
ay madaya at huwad.
Narito ang orihinal na soneto:
SONNET 130
William Shakespeare
My mistress’ eyes are
nothing like the sun;
Coral is far more red,
than her lips red:
If snow be white, why
then her breasts are dun;
If hairs be wires,
black wires grow on her head.
I have seen roses
damasked, red and white,
But no such roses see I
in her cheeks;
And in some perfumes is
there more delight
Than in the breath that
from my mistress reeks.
I love to hear her
speak, yet well I know
That music hath a far
more pleasing sound:
I grant I never saw a
goddess go,
My mistress, when she
walks, treads on the ground:
And yet by heaven, I
think my love as rare,
As any she belied with false
compare.
